[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]There will always be the big downloaders who are lifting the average when there are people like my Dad who think 'Digital Content' means buying a DVD.[/citation]
Guess what? Your father is right! A DVD (and even a CD) is all digital so it's certainly digital content. We've lived in the digital age ever since audio cassettes and VHS tapes died.

Lets not forget you should have at least 2 1/2 times the storage reserved for a backup solution...so if you have 1tb of actually digital data...you should have at least 2.5tb of extra storage for backups (enough to fit two fulls for rotation)...that's not considering growth.

Sounds like an infomercial for hard drive makers on Toms Hardware?
Yes, more people will warehouse data on hard drives because there isn't a reasonable & affordable long term solution. Blue Ray discs and drives aren't of good quality or capacity to keep up. So until something steps up to the challenge of backing up thousands of gigabytes, we're screwed tight to the magnetic disc substrate.

1 TB per person average... That is probably about right. I have me, my wife, my daughter, and about 57 other people taken care of. I am doing my part. :)
