Don't see why not, best thing is to clone your drive onto the new one. I like Macrium Reflect for this, their free version is very good. Get an external USB enclosure, put the 500 GB drive in that, boot off a Reflect boot disk, clone your drive to the new one. Make sure you do not go the other way or your will wipe your existing drive.
