WD external hard disk not resppnding

hey guys....
my WD external harddisk of 500 gb had a name flashed as element s in my computer....but since i have attached to my frnds pc and then bought it and attached to my pc its not responding...
the name now flashed is local disk j:.....I tried many solutions like changing the cable....... then tried it in my frnds pc but none of the ways is working........so please suggest me some solutions please.....

Take it out off the caddy/enclosure, and connect it directly to the MB of a PC. See how it works.
