Hey guys, Need some help..

My Specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
ga-78lmt-usb3
Kingston 2x4gb 1333mhz
WD Green 1TB
Nvidia 650ti Amp 2GB
Cooler Master 600W PSU
Cooler Master Cabinet

I had a problem earlier of all games crashing with nvidia drivers crashed and recovered error (seen in event viewer). Finally I reached to a conclusion that its because of my slow harddisk. I confirmed it by installing windows in a different HDD borrowed from friend and installing the game in it. That worked absolutely fine.

I then re-ran the assessment in Windows experience index with Windows 7 installed in my own harddisk and the hard disk rating came down to 5.2 which was earlier 5.9 in the same. I then reinstalled the Windows formatting the C drive and re ran the assessment and it came back to normal 5.9. I thought it could be just my windows which was having some issues or a virus may be.

But I can now see that my complete hardrive is slow and I get an average transfer rate of 7.5mb/s and like before my game crashes quite soon and even the game loading is slow. Surprisingly, I believe that my write speed is fine as I get great speed trying to copy files in my hard drive from other hard drive though I don't get speed when I copy from my HDD to other HDDs.

Have initially seen HD Tune which was saying some around 65 unstable sectors before which started showing as damaged later. I checked it for may days and there was no change after that. Now, I cant check it as the trial has expired.

Any solution for this?

sorry forgot to tell you that all the SATA 3 drive will work on a maximum speed of 250 - 270 MB/s on SATA 2 motherboard (with the correct SATA mode settings).
these SSHD drive use a low capacity flash drive to write first priority files on them(so you could have better performance in reading files that would increase the speed) like when your booting they have boot files on the flash and so on.
Yes, if power cut happens more then normal it could cause damages to HDDs and data loss on SSDs (because they use electricity to write and wipe data) but on the SSD there's less to worry about , there are technologies on ssds that stop the data from being erased in a power cut. other thing that could damage the HDD is shocking, when the HDD is...
1) Don't use "green" drives as your OS drive. They're designed for slow long-term storage, not to act as your primary drive. In particular with the WD Green drives, they have a very short head parking timeout, which will cause stutters and micro-freezes if you use it as the OS drive.

2) If you suspect your drive is defective, head over to the manufacturer's website. All of them have a small program which will test the drive. If it detects a problem, it will generate a code which you will need to include when you submit a request for warranty service.

WD's version is called Data Lifeguard:

Thanks Solandri, As I mentioned I am not left with any Warranty now. I understand what you said is correct but I have so far not faced any freezing or shutters using gaming or on Windows. The issue however is not allowing me to play games. I an right now not in situation to buy a new hard drive but would be really happy if I can fix it. As I mentioned, the write speed seems fine to me which comes over 30mb/s easily.
Also, The WD hardware shows the SMART status as pass and no sign to show hard drive has issues. I am attaching the SMART screen short if that can help understanding the issue.

Post screenshot from HDtune health section.
Use free (non pro) version - it doesn't expire.

WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics doesn't show data column in SMART parameter list.
That info is useless.

The health tab is blank - Any workaround to make it work? It worked before with pro. Restarting the system once. meanwhile check below
Attaching the benchmark screenshot which I ran right now

Well than, will buy one next month, Any suggestions over which one to buy ?

I am from India and we generally don't find other than Seagate and WD here, I don't want to spend much on HDD as I don't use the system for my general use, its just Gaming, I use it just like a console, connected to TV to play games and I generally play only 7 days in a month for 5 hours a day, but the system keeps running for downloading 😛

Also, it had faced few sudden power cuts which I believed has caused the issue. - Need some comments over this.

I can see a WD Black is double the price of a WD Green and Seagate, I am not sure with, I have been not very happy with Seagate before and replaced it with WD 4 years back. Look at the available HDD options below.

2TB AV GP WD - (INR 5247)
SEAGATE ( OYW) - (NA)
2TB SEAGATE SATA - (INR 5000)
2TB SEAGATE SV (INR 5181)
2TB WD SATA (2 YEAR) (INR 4904)

it is highly recommended to use a SSD drive as the primary storage to host the operating system and heavy programs and use a HDD drive as the secondary drive for storing files and backups.
i recommend to use a Samsung 850 EVO 256 (or more depending on what you want to do) and use the current drive you have (i had a WD black 1TB it ran into a bad sector problem i now use it as the file and backup storage and it's safe but it's just slow) or a New WD blue as the secondary drive.

Thanks, I understand your point, but as I mentioned I have a limited budget, was earlier thinking of getting a 2TB WD Green, but for sure, that not I am going for now. What about the SSHD? Are they worth? What about this one?

how much is your budget by the way?
and if you don't want to buy SSDs and have powerful HDD instead then i could say WD black version is a good choise (if your budget is enough):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAAY94651830&cm_re=WD_black_2tb-_-22-236-184-_-Product
and about the Hybrid drives i didn't test them my self but some of the people saying that they only speed up the computer short-term. so i would buy the HDD and wait until the budget come and then i would go for and an SSD.

I have a budget of somewhat INR 5k, in which I can go for a 2TB WD Green, which I am surely not getting now. A WD Black is double the price which is out of my budget. I don't want to buy a normal 1TB HDD this time. I thought of an SSD before but with the mobo I use, is it worth spending on it? its having Sata II ports only.

What about using a WD blue for OS ? I am still keen on getting a SSHD, but wont without expert's comments. :) And why is the WD SSHD double the price of Seagate SSHD?

Well, let's not forget that you have 1TB of space already, you can use it as a secondary drive. so if you could buy a WD 1tb black would it be helpful? because believe me in HDDs you should buy a good one if you want it to last a while.i used every WD and at least black died later then others (died i mean useless in the matter of speed) you can find out more about the colors in here:
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/internal/desktop/Default.aspx
and about the SSHD, i said i didn't test them my self but choosing a good one would be better (WD for example) because they have different algorithms for data writing that could be an increase in speed.

Agreed, but double the price?? and you did not answered one of my query, I have Sata II ports only, so is buying a SSHD or SSD a good move? I am not going for an upgrade very soon.
So the point here is
I think buying a SSD will not help me considering the mobo I currently have.
Since a SSHD has 8GB SSD storage, it may not perform well as well with my current mobo.

So, am I left with no other choice than a WD black considering I want my hard disk to last long ?

Also, I face some sudden power failure, Is it the reason for damaged sector? I did some google, but not very clear with the answer. What are it implications on SSD?

if you sure that the HDD would not be on a shocking environment, so yes WD black is the best option.

DO NOT BUY ANOTHER GREEN DRIVE IF YOU'RE OS RUNS ON IT AND YOU GAME, IT'S BUSINESS/CASUAL LIGHT COMPUTING DRIVE ONLY MAINLY FOR STORAGE.
buy a western digital blue, doesn't need to be black, the reds are enterprise level, i do not know how they price the reds in india tho. the seagate's have high rates of failure and 1 year warranties where western digitals have 3 year warranties, hence the price differences, you get what you pay for.

your drive is dying, hence the code 86, it's an old american slang saying computer coders have adopted, beware the 86.
TOP DEFINITION
86'd
To get rid of, originally for killing someone. The phrase "80 miles out and 6 feet under" was reserved for someone who had to dig their own grave 80 miles from civilization and then get shot execution-style. All terms for 86'd originated from this, be it alcohol or eliminating.
When used as a verb in American English, eighty-six, eighty-sixed, 86, 86ed, 86'd, and the like are slang for getting rid of something, ejecting someone, or refusing service.
It's supposed that Jimmy Hoffa was 86'd under the endzone of Giants Stadium.
