My WD Green EZRX automatically disconnects while is in operation. The S.M.A.R.T status shows everything is ok. When it gets didconnected, i have to unplug it and give it sometime to rest snd after couple of hours if i connect it again, disk shows up. It then runs for a while and disconnects itself again. I pressume it is hardware problem and theres no one here to repair. But if is a software problem please help.
Btw, i tried to change idle time by wdidle3 software, but it doesnot recognize the disk and in power management i already disabled hdd sleep time.
TIA. HELP PLEASE ANYWAY U CAN.

Well, to me it seems that the HDD has some internal fault. Is the drive under warranty? In case it is, you can contact the place you got it from or contact WD's Support and eventually RMA it.
There is a chance that this will continue even if you use it as an external drive.

You need to check the enclosure limitation. Some enclosures, do have some. Also in case you decide to go with an enclosure, you need to get one that is designed to be used with 3.5'' drives. This means that you will need not only USB cable, but USB + power cable.

Hi there muhtasim_zarif,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. 🙁
As your HDD is accessible, it may be a good idea to just back up the data stored on it until you sort this out.

Similar issues, could be caused by faulty cables and ports. So, you can try using different cables(both SATA and power ones) and attach the drive to another port.
What testing tool have you used? You can test the drive with WD's DLG tool(both short and extended tests) as well: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=V44SvY

I don't really think that this is a software related issue, as the drive disconnects when being accessed.

Is the drive under warranty?

Let me know how this goes,

At first i guessed that it is sata cable problem and i replaced it with few other ones. But the problem persisted. Then i switched the power connection, with one extra available. But no solution there. Lastly i switched PC, but there's the same symptoms. Then i went to repair shop, then miraculously it got connected . Then i tried another pc there just to be reassured. Then HDD didn't show. It is then, i realized that, if i put it at rest after it disconnects it might get connected again. And in this way, i copied all of my data. but i want to know is it possible to repair such problem.
I used HDTune pro and WDIDLE3 until now. Now i am thinking about make it a portable HDD by connecting it to an enclosure. I will use your suggested software anyways.
BTW, can you tell me that, is there any limitation, in respect to HDD size, for an internal HDD if i want to make that portable? Mine is 2TB.
Thanks for reply.
