Question WD My Book 12TB

I got 2 of these on sale for my NAS. Shucked them with no problems but having problems getting them up and running. I covered pin 3 to stop the pwdis but the drive still keeps spinning up and the computer sees it and then it drops out. up and down like that over and over again. The drive is a white WD120EDAZ which I can't find anywhere. Anyone seen this model and if so is there something strange about it?

I had a similar problem after shucking the WD12EDAZ out of a WD Element. WD put a factory partition on the drive which causes the issue. I had to delete the factory partition to get my QNAP to recognize the drive.
