I'm using a WD my book 4tb that doesn't have a manual power on/off button, since i bought it 2 years ago i could never figure out how to turn it off since it always goes on sleep/standby mode when i turn off my pc, i remember it used to turn off at some point but it wasn't long before it went back to sleep mode and i stopped caring for a while since i couldn't find a solution. Not sure if its a driver issue or usb related, my pc is a laptop and recently upgraded to win10 but it still won't turn off and just go sleep(standby light still blinking) and i'm starting to worry about it producing issues since its not really turning off and its racking up hours in its life

Edit: i cheked power management on my usb root hub but the "allow this device to wake up the computer" isn't selected and can't be selected, i checked every single one just in case too but it doesn't look like thats the issue here

Some BIOS allow you to have the USB ports active for things like charging devices even when the computer is off. Check that and not the OS.
If the drive is in sleep mode that means the discs aren't spinning and actually aren't doing anything. So what difference does it make? Sleep mode means it will start up faster.
W.P.

What exactly do i change in the BIOS? sorry but i'm not really familiar with BIOS config, also does changing something in the power plan advanced settings section help?
