WD My Passport Ultra has stopped working. Once plugged in the USB slot, there is no blinking. I tried it on different machines -- 2 laptops running Win 8.1, another laptop running XP, and an iMac.

No error messages are shown on the Win 8.1 Machines. I also tried using a USB extender on one. The USB extender from Xcellon has a light once plugged in but once I attach the WD the light on the extender goes out.

I tried the WD on an iMac as well, which shows this error once plugged in: "USB Devices Disabled -- Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices."

The laptop with XP on it has a similar error message.

I also used a second cable to make sure it is not faulty.

At a loss what my next step is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, flathaya!

I'm very sorry to hear about your connectivity issues with the WD My Passport. 🙁 I think what you need is a power booster cable or a USB replacement cable from WD. If you external is still within warranty, our tech support should be able to provide you with a replacement cable.
However, I'd suggest to try to plug the WD My Passport together with another external device simultaneously in the USB ports of your computer and see if the power will pop up again.
Another thing you could try is re-installing your USB drivers on the Windows machines. See if that will make a difference.
