WD Purple is not really suited for desktop usage or gaming. This particular WD HDD model is designed for 24/7 always-on high-definition security systems to ensure reliability and quality video play back. It's also a great upgrade for a DVR or NVR system. It could serve as a secondary storage drive, indeed, but the fact that it incorporates lower power consumption features, means that you might no get the best performance out of your gameplay.
If you are looking for a performance drive, I'd advise you to consider
a WD Black HDD instead. It is designed for desktop PCs & power users who use demanding applications...
