I can not find the files from my WD passport on my laptop. I read one persons solution about the
driver needed a letter. My has E but what do I do after that?

I'd strongly recommend you make sure you have the WD SmartWare software installed on your laptop before you attempt to retrieve the backup from the WD My Passport. Even if you already have it, try re-installing it and see if the issue will still be present.
I'd also suggest you go to Disk Management in Windows and post a screenshot from there (e.g. via Imgur) so that I we can see how the WD My Passport external drive appears there. Make sure you also check what are the available options you have when you click on its E: volume in the Disk Management utility.
