Whatever the heat output, it doesn't concern me. I'm still running fine at 933. But when I upgrade, it's nice to know that both AMD and Intel will have better processors than these. The T-bird is getting scaled to it's end, how far will the Palamino version go? Hard to say what will be going on early next year when I'm looking to upgrade! But it's probably going to be a shootout between something like a 2.5GHz Northwood and a 2GHz Palamino core Athlon by then. Whoever has the best motherboard will win my business, and that's up to the chipset manufacturers.

I'm so tired of cookies I'd settle for spam!

a crippled P4 @2.0Ghz just spat all over a Athlon @1.4Ghz! and we're not gloating are we?
Of course you're not. It needs 600MHz more to beat Athlon (and still loose some). That is nothing to gloat about!!!

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

What they should do is just release their DDR-SDRAM version of the i845.
Of course they should. Why don't they?

Well, there is a small, surely completely untrue rumour saying that Intel has a contract with Rambust prohibiting them to launch a high bandwith chipset not based upon RDRAM until 2002. And also that part of the P4 internal architecture uses some Rambust patented tech (it seems they aren't just a litigation firm after all  ) in exchange.

But this is all wild guesses and speculations...
