Weird Audigy 2 ZS problem

I still occasionally experience similar audio artifacts with my X-Fi even when only using's the card's inherent DSP (outboard DAC and amp). I really think its a PCI-bus/cpu usage issue...but it happens so rarely it hasn't even warranted further investigation (my excuse for laziness). ...nothing's perfect (except my lady, of course).

I get some weird things with my audigy 2ZS when i start playing COD2 at higher volums. Every once and a while my speaker will pop (like every 60 seconds) and needless to say with the volume cranked it gets very annoying. I may just return the thing and switch backto onboard.

I'm having a similar problem w/ my Audigy 1 Platinum.
I updated ET to 2.60 i think &PB to god knows what version
Immediately after I start ET and the grey screen comes up I get this repeating clicking / glitching noise from the speakers.

I know it is software related and that the audigy's are known for this kind of thing, but from what I read its all about waiting for the next patch to fix this problem.

I'd love to hear other suggestions or if someone has a link to an older patch that i could use instead of the newest one that would be great.

Incidentally I also tried installing newer audio codecs to no avail. I got the installer for the newest drivers but it crashes. That's a whole separate problem though I think.

These audigys arent as good as people think.
I want a new sound card and don't want to spend big $. (200~)
I need a breakout box for midi / audio outs that's why i got the aud plat.
any suggestions?

thx

yeah i tried the creative update...i downloaded the exe and every time i try to run it it pops up a window that says An error (-5011: 0x80040707) has occurred while running the setup.

When i click the details button i get this:

Maybe I need sp2?

I refuse to install it because of windows BS included in it.

sp2 problems specifically the WGA update and it's resulting false positives have been a huge problem for scores of users
this problem has been posted multiple times on slashdot.
either way i'm not installing sp2 to get rid of a problem w/ my sound card

even if it falses you, all you do is call em up and they give you a working activation(tell you to reactive with a new number or something). They are not that bad to deal with.

I've been lucky about 8 copies of windows all good on sp2

Same problem for me too!
strange high pitched noise while game playing, and stutters aswell.
now, SB audigy 2 zs just doesn't work anymore at all, but i will try and re slot and dust it off. for now i'm using the old sigmatel audio which works just fine.
Tried updating drivers with no success.
Does the power supply have anything to do with faulty audigy cards?

cheers.
