Weird Black screen of death after hardware updates.

I changed graphics card from nvidea to ati, added ram, removed ir/ video card all at once.
Turned on, and installed drivers. Screen turns into a crazy rainbow.
Restart in safe mode to ensure drivers are ok. Uninstall drivers, but they won't re install in safe mode...

Restart and I get a black screen of death in normal start up after I enter my password. Ctrl alt del task manager works, mouse works. Some processes will run.

Gave up, put old video card back in... Drivers installed in safe mode. Black screen looks nicer, but is still a problem in normal windows boot...

I did a system restore and everything is working with the old video card.

I will try the new card again tomorrow and update in case anyone else has the name problem.

Back to square two. Re installed msi hd5450.
Seems to be ok, but...

Screen is not filled out. There is a 1in black boarder that's functioning as the screen edge. AND if I adjust the resolution the display turns into a f&$&ed to death rainbow party. But if I wait for the display to sleep, it wakes up without the rainbow distortion.

Updating to the most recent drivers as we speak. Will update. And post rainbow screen shot soon.

Fixed the black border under "Scaling Options" I had to overscan by 15%

The MSI 6450 was defective. I returned it for a GT 640 and every thing is looking up.
