Weird Boot Issue...

Hi All!

Yesterday my trusty Z87-G45 motherboard started playing me up......went to boot up and I got the dreaded select boot device, or whatever the message is. I first suspected my OS SSD had died, but after fiddling with some SATA cables, it booted up.

Next boot time, exactly the same, but I found if I unplug the OS SSD SATA cable and plug it back in again, reset, it boots fine in the same SATA port.

Could this be the start of the motherboard dying, or the SSD dying perhaps? I've not come across this kind of issue before so I'm a little lost.

SSD Life reports the SSD itself is 100% healthy, and my BIOS is completely up to date. Perhaps a BIOS reset, or battery swop?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Solution
Could be a dying SATA cable - using new cable would fix that.
Could be a dying SATA port - connecting SSD to different port would fix that.
Could be a dying SSD also, but you would most likely suffer some other problems with system in this case.
Motherboard battery is unlikely suspect here. But if it's more then 2-3 years old, replacing it with new one is never bad idea, considering it is very inexpensive.
BIOS reset most likely won't help here, but it won't hurt either.
