Basically, I'm having an odd issue related to my RAM and booting in dual channel. If I put the RAM in dual channel mode, it just results in a boot loop.

  • Both RAM sticks work normally. I've tested both of them out separately, and by themselves they can boot just fine.
  • the CPU can read both RAM sticks, because I can boot with them in 1 and 2 slots (so no dual channel, but the full 16gb memory from both of them), but not if they're in the 1/3 or 2/4 slots.

My CPU - Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel H170

My RAM - HyperX Fury 2x8GB 2400MHz

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D8U2B8W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And my other PC parts if necessary are in this list -

Any help is appreciated.

First thing i would try is putting in 1 stick, booting into the bios and manually setting the ram to 2133Mhz CL16 save and shutdown. Boot back up and make sure that speed and timings work, if it does add the 2nd stick in for dual channel.

Looking at Gigabyte, newegg, and amazon the specs only say its rated at 2133Mhz ram nothing above that.

Thank you, for some reason the boot sequence doesn't show the key input for booting into the BIOs, but if I can manage it I'll definitely try that out.

Looking at the motherboard on sites also reveals that a lot of people had very similar issues with ram causing boot loops, so I might just end up getting a new motherboard entirely when I can afford it.
