Hello guys,

I recently bought a MSI GTX 1050Ti 4G OC, but my monitor only supports VGA.
I got myself a hdmi to vga adapter, and everything works fine.
The issue is that the colors now look pretty weird, grey looks more like brown for example.
I have tried changing some settings in the nvidia control panel but i can't get it like it was before.
Can that be caused by the adapter? If not, how can i fix it?

Thx in advance!

Solution
Yes that's the issue. Look up HDMI to VGA active adaptor. You'll see what I'm talking about. That'll cause you major problems. You're lucky to even get a partial display. Some people get nothing.

10 series cards don't support analog display. That's why.
yes, it can be caused by an adapter. could be a bad cable too. could even be a bad gpu or monitor port. you just need to troubleshoot/replace things until you find the issue.

i would trobuleshoot in this order:
-start by checking the pins on all the cables and make sure you connected them tightly.
-replace cables
-try monitor on another computer and confirm it works right
-check your adapter/replace.
-try a different output on graphics card if possible.

on a side note, you should buy a new monitor that you can go straight hdmi to hdmi. adapters are a common cause of issues. going from hdmi to vga drops signal quality and usually lowers resolution.

Thanks a lot for the quick answers.

@The_Staplergun

I have bought that one : http://www.t-nb.com/en/multimedia/connectique-nomade/adaptateur-hdmi-vers-vga.html

It does not require any external power source tho, can that be the issue?

@N3rdR4ge

I will check all you said tomorrow, thanks for the tips.

I have planned buying a new monitor, because my current resolution is 1600x900 maximum, which really sucks...

Thanks again for the answers!

Alright! Also, by external power source, how does this really work? Is this micro usb to usb that i can plug on my computer for example?

Thanks a lot for the help dude
