Question Weird core utilization pattern?

I recently got a new CPU, and while playing games it felt a little slower than it should be. I checked the utilization and every time I play a game, the 1st to 4th cores is always in a building block pattern, switching the higher usage to one another. The rest of the cores are still being used, it's just not evened out. This is making the games stutter a lot.

Any idea how to fix this? It's really preventing the full capabilities of this CPU for me.

Modern CPU's have more cores, each with their own strengths based on both design and silicon quality. To take advantage of the differences the OS uses a complex process scheduling algorithm that is CPU architecture aware in order to use them in specific ways. Intel and AMD systems do this in different ways (Intel CPU's can have E-cores and P-cores, AMD has cores ranked with CPPC to control which to be used) so it's important to know at least what CPU and motherboard you have to be able to give you an answer.
 
Potentially normal behavior. Without full system specs and game examples no one can help determine if there is an actual issue. Anecdotes of how it feels and what the cause is perceived to be are not diagnostic aids. Sorry I do not mean to sound harsh but we see so many threads like this and people dive full bore into diagnostic guesswork without first establishing if this is normal behavior or not. For that we need specifications and examples of issues in specific games, as well as what software you are using to monitor CPU, GPU utilization, temperature, ram/vram usage, hdd/ssd/network utilization. If you aren't monitoring anything then software to do so can be recommended, as well as suggestions of what to look for while monitoring.
