weird cpu spasms.

hey guys my games have been lagging a little lately, im not sure if something updated or changed along the way and im a bios virgin, however i will say my pc is having some serious cpu throttling. i have a 10 core processor so the idea that this is happening is absurd to me. i'll give you whatever info you need to help me fix this, i did just read something on c-state or something but don't wanna mess if i can help it!

ram: 128GB corsair i believe
cpu: i7-6950x
motherboard: ROG-RAMPAGE-V-EDITION-10
power supply:1000v something not sure,
hard drive: samsung ssd and a spare 2TB for storage,


i want to add it was running like a dream till very recently and the cpu has stared being erratic even when resting

What temperatures are you reaching in Celsius?

my rig is watercooled, temps have never peeked 60

Those are acceptable temperatures, meaning your cpu is not throttling.

Definitely an app running. If that was me I'd just fresh install windows. Not sure if you can. Boot in safe mode and see what it does in there.

I'm more worried that you probably bought a $1700 CPU just to play games.
