I bought WD Blue Internal 6TB HDD 3,5inches drive. I want to use it as an external back up... I bought it with this reduction to plug it into USB port:

AXAGON ADSA-FP3 USB3.0 - SATA 6G HDD FASTPort3 Adapter Incl. AC

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADSA-FP3-USB-3-0-Adapter-Connecting/dp/B07VM9KYK2

I have win 7, the system instalation is old, like 5-6 years...? And in different way acts weirdly for the last year or so, some minor weird problems. I tried to plug the HDD into the USB port using the reduction but it gives me this error:

"Device driver software was not successfully installed“"

and "SMBus Controller" "no driver was found" or something like that... I check the sites for the driver to the reduction "AXAGON ADSA-FP3 USB3.0 - SATA 6G HDD FASTPort3 Adapter Incl. AC"... But there is NONE... It just says there doesnt exist ANY at all, and that it just uses the generic driver that windows SHOULD provide... But im having problems...

What now...? How to solve it...? I dont wanna reinstall windows :-O :-(. My motherboard is AsRock X370 Killer SLI (Ryzen 1700 AMD CPU is the CPU)

I installed the drivers for the motherboard when i got it of course (those 5-6 years ago), so i should have all the drivers installed already right...? Did the instalation get corrupted as the "years went by"...? What should i do...

Help me please! :)...

(thank you)

Have you been able to try the drive and case on another known working computer?

Look in Event Viewer and Reliability History.

Either one or both may provide more details about the problem. Perhaps an error code of some sort - the error code may or may not be helpful.

Try running the built in Windows troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.
