Every time my pc wakes up from sleep it flashes the application minimized on the screen.(. For example if i have steam minimized it would show the steam page for a micro second even though i am only looking at the desktop background. when im playing games it would flash a black screen instead every couple of seconds. I did a virus scan and Norton didn't find anything.

System specs:

Yeah, I would definitely reinstall/ update all of your drivers. Out of date drivers can also cause screen artifacting, which cause the screens picture to be distorted, and can often be mistaken for a dying graphics card. If reinstall/updating your drivers to the latest ones, doesn't fix your issue in anyway, please make sure to tell us! :)

Hello,

Sorry for the trouble. That may not be a virus problem. Can you try updating the Graphics Card driver and see if that helps?

Thanks!

If it only happens after sleep, it could be a compatibility issue. For example I get issues when I wake my pc up from sleep so I have told my pc to never sleep (This could be a viable fix for you).

my Intel Core i3 4130 (Haswell) CPU isn't directly compatible with my motherboard. It would be worth checking if you motherboard and CPU are compatible, and your other pieces of hardware too, as this could be the culprit.

it only has happened recently. but my gpu has been acting up recently sometimes windows gave drive errors saying that the graphics driver has stopped responding.(closing the game i was playing) Could be my gpu it is almost 2 and a half years old. Also my pc has been acting sluggest recently as well.

Sounds very much like a driver issue. Do a full clean of old drivers using Display Driver Unistaller (or another similar program), then do a fresh install of the latest drivers for your card.
