Hello.
For some reason that I cannot figure out, I am experiencing random lag spikes on my pc.
This happens on pretty much any game. even steam itself.
PUBG, COD Warzone, Minecraft shaders, heck, I even tried roblox and I got lag. It seems that every app that I use is affected by this.

stuff that I tried so far:
set opengl rendering gpu to the 4070 in the nvidia control panel
downloaded latest nvidia drivers
installed chipset drivers
double checked that the ram was in the right slots

oh yeah, and my cpu temperatures were 40C at idle and 60-80C under load, and gpu was 29C at idle, and 40-70C at load.

Specs:
Ryzen 9 7900x
RTX 4070 Ti (MSI ventus OC)
Asus TUF B650 PLUS
Corsair RM850x
Samsung 980 500GB
Crucial DDR5 4800MHz

CPU cooler is the corsair h150i 360mm radiator
GPU is air cooled.

This might be a dumb question, but would my monitor have anything to do with this? I am extremely new to pc building, so i'm not surprised that I have not figured it out yet.

(note: I have v-sync enabled by default bc my monitor is 59hz and everything gets at least 120-300 fps if i dont have it on.)

Can you explain random lag spikes?

Are you on the latest NIVDA and AMD chipset drivers, bios versions?

I have a very similar setup. 7900x/4070TI and mine runs great.

New nivida drivers did wonders for a certain game I play.

I have a asus MB too and 980, and corsair power supply.

my 4070TI stays about 36C (roomer is warmer I"m guessing than yours, cause I have 10 case fans and still warm a little warm)

oh yeah sorry for not being very clear,
It runs fine at windows desktop and opera gx,
and then when I am playing whatever game, i will get random frame drops, especially when moving or panning the camera. The frame drops are also very noticable, like 200fps suddenly drops to 100 and then goes back up to 200.
When I have vsync on, its more like 60fps drops to 48 and then goes back up to 60.

also, NVIDIA drivers are latest (528.49) and amd chipset is also latest.

Sorry for this dumb question, but how do I check bios version? that is where I don't know the version.

You can check bios version in the bios itself or just using CPUZ.

So you do realize FFPS constantly changes right in most titles and that is normal.

As enemies and things so does your FPS.

so are you sure you have a problem?

I would give us some video clips you playing with the frame drops, does it happen in all games, what are your settings. So many variables.

As long as your staying above 60 FPS I don't know if I would worry :)

I actually updated the bios and that fixed my issues. Thanks for the help!
