Hi!

I've got this weird problem with my mouse pointer/mouse/cursor.

When i move my mouse from left to right - the cursor/pointer goes up and down a bit. Similar thing happens when i move from top to bottom - the cursor/pointer goes left and right. In short, it's not moving in a perfect line.

There's no such thing when i move it fast, everything is smooth and perfect.

Things get worse when I'm using a mousepad, it goes all the way to the corners or almost in opposite direction. (Cleaning the mouse had no effect)

The same thing happens in games, especially in fps games, the crosshair is kinda weird and imprecise.

Things I've done that had no effect:
-Updating all drivers
-Unplugging the usb hub
-Trying a different mouse
-Uninstalling mouse drivers then installing them again
-Installing Logitech software*
-Plugging to a different usb 2.0/3.0 ports
-Disabling mouse acceleration**
-Installing the mouse acc fix

*When changing the refresh rates in the software I've noticed that under 500hz its even worse
**Disabling it made things worse(but when moving fast it's still smooth)

My mouse: Logitech G400

Any suggestions?

[EDIT]Unplugging the keyboard had no effect either

I don't know of anyone that can move the pointer in a perfectly straight line past a very very slow motion, I just tried it, and the mouse definitely jiggled around a bit even at deliberate slow speeds. Exactly how much is this motion? Have you tried it on another computer?

Yep i tried my two mice on a different pc and it was perfectly fine. I understand that I won't draw a perfect straight line but the motion is like countering my moves, a bit choppy and jumpy like.

For instance when I'm moving the pointer from left to right it's feels like something is dragging it up.

I thought that my mousepad was dirty but after cleaning it and even changing it wasn't any different.

OK, I just wanted to make sure that you did not take a slight up and down motion as an issue since that is pretty normal.

Since things seem specific to your system, and you already played around with drivers and different ports, next step would be to try a new operating system build. If you have a spare hard drive, you should remove yours, install Windows clean on the spare drive (don't even have to activate it yet), install your drivers/games and see how things run. If that fixes things, you can either activate that new setup and copy your files off the other drive, or backup your original drive and install Windows on that clean.

Hi Choli,

I've been having the same problem on several PCs that I upgraded to Windows 10 ... very annoying, and all searches yield well meaning, yet information-free answers like, "update your drivers", etc. So far I haven't seen any really good answers as to the root cause and how to solve it. Some of the things I've done:

1) On my main gaming PC, I did a complete clean install of Windows 10 (initially did an upgrade from Win 7). The mouse behaved much better after this, but just recently it started acting weird again. Not all the time, but at random intervals.

2) Just now, I tried playing with the settings in the mouse properties, specifically the 'Enhance Pointer Precision' box in the 'Pointer Options' tab of the mouse properties dialog. Checking the box solved the problem I was having (erratic, laggy movement) but I could swear that I had to uncheck it earlier trying to solve the same problem, so go figure.

What makes this such a devil to debug is the fact that it seems so random .. I hope somebody can figure out the root cause and put it to bed.

HTH and good luck,

DRC
