Weird noise coming from case.

Hello, I've built my new system few weeks ago and I sometimes hear weird grinding noise coming from my case. It can't be fan because everything works normally, even under load and I can't hear anything.
I think it has something to do with a case, when I hear that noise I just kick case with my hand and it stops 😀

Oh and btw, case is Raidmax Viper GX II

It could still be a fan. There could be a loose screw or other smaller part floating around under a fan. You might run a fan speed monitoring program minimized and when you hear the sound pop it up and check the fan speeds to see if one of the fans is running slower than normal.

Try this - make a cone from a large sheet of paper like a newspaper with the larger end about 2" in diameter and the smaller end 1/2" or smaller. Pull the side cover off and the next time you hear the sound use the paper cone to try to isolate the location by putting the small end to your ear and moving the larger end around the case.

Something else to check is that something in the case that is not fastened tightly. There is a lot of vibration going on between disk drives, fans, etc. It could be that a loose part gets into a harmonic vibration with the other vibrating parts and is vibrating against the part nearest to it. Just tighten the loose part if that's the case.

It could also be inside your PSU but that's usually higher pitched. The paper cone will tell you if that's the problem.

Could be the bearings in the fan itself. Machine I use at work does this on startup. A quick hit right on the fan area makes it stop.

Gonna try checking again tomorrow, I haven't heard any noises for a few hours already.

Could it be hard drive? Maybe I haven't used enough force on those mount rails which are toolless...But I doubt...anyways I'm gonna check again tomorrow since I haven't heard any sounds for a few hours.

I think I found a problem, when I just use little force on side window it stops...must be it...

Well it's not really a fix...Basically it happens over and over, just need to press side panel and it stops, but then starts again after few hours...gets really annoying.

Edit : Still don't know what the hell is wrong with it, always come up with different solutions when it starts making that sound.

Sounds like the window is rattling in the frame or the frame is rattling in the case. You might try wedging some tape between the window and the frame and/or frame and the case just to see if it reduces the frequency of it happening. If that is the case then talk to the case manufacturer. They might send you a new part to fix it.
