Weird problem with Crossfire

I'm trying to do crossfire with an ati 6770 and 5770. I hooked everything up correctly, and I have enough wattage from my psu according to multiple power supply calculators. But when I booted up my computer and went to enable crossfire, I didn't see an option for it in ccc. Then a few minutes after booting, my monitors started periodically turning off for a few seconds like they stopped receiving signal. The lights would turn orange and the fans, probably video card fans, would slow. After the monitors came back on, my windows would be small like the resolution changed, and there was a message from my asus monitor driver about compatibility. It was also constantly doing the windows driver search thing, and I think it started a windows update. I managed to shut it down, but now it's stuck on logging off. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it?

An hour and a half later, it's still logging off. I'm going to hard shut down and take out the 5770.

Have you test your card individually?

I think it was a problem with the asus monitor software, because I started it up and closed that as soon as it opened, and everything worked just fine. As far as I can tell
it's not necessary, so I think I'll just uninstall it.

Personally among monitoring software did i have use in the past msi afterburner probably among the best. Along with evga precision (although i think evga presion only work with nvidia cards)
