Weird standoff in NZXT H440 case

I think if I'm not mistaken, that it works like a standoff but is actually an alignment pin. Where a regular standoff is a hex shaped barrel nut designed to have a screw secured into it. This way when you place your motherboard on the standoffs before you get a screw started, it acts as a sort of 'starter' to help hold the motherboard in position.

Someone else posted something similar, they were trying to figure it out. The pic showed a few different standoffs, different sizes and a couple with solid pins. None of mine have had them but I could see where it would be helpful.

lol @ ghetto cases.. my case was decent back in the day, but it's been awhile and I just can't seem to justify another $130 for a new case. That was back when intel came out with the new cooling specs for the p4's and cases were starting to feature side panel air intakes. Also lacking is the convenient cutout access in the motherboard tray for attaching a cpu cooler with the motherboard installed. Not to mention no room for tucking cables back there.
