Question Western Digital 3TB works fine until I attempt to download something to it

Hi,

I have a WD 3TB (either blue or black) supplemental drive used for installing mostly video games onto. Lately I've had an issue whenever I try to install something onto it, it'll freeze and then say all folders/files on the drive are not accessible because "A device which was specified does not exist".

It works fine until I try to download something onto it. The only way to fix it is when I restart my PC. Is the drive failing? Or is there a way to fix it?

Did you try to connect the HDD to other SATA port?

Have you checked the health of the drive using CrystalDiskInfo?
