I have a Western Digital Elements 12TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. Im already running out of room on it and I've had it less than a year. I looked at matching the size of one of my main computer drives, which is 22TB. I dont see the 24 TB drives on the market yet, though they said it should have been out this year. I do a lot of pictures and 8K videos, so it take up a lot of room on my drives. Anyway I was thinking of getting another 22TB 7200 spin SATA internal hard drive and just putting it inside the case I have where the 12TB drive currently resides. Im told its easy to remove the drive in those Element cases, and put something new in there. First off- what is the process for removing the old drive in those cases? Secondly- is there anything I need to be concerned about putting a 22TB drive in there and making sure it will work? I dont want to actually buy an Elements 22TB USB drive, because they are asking almost $1100 Canadian for it, when I can get just the drive itself for $550-600 dollars Canadian. I'll just sell the old 12TB drive to help fund the new drive. Its had low usage regardless. Does the new 22TB HD have to be a Western Digital to work in their Elements case, or could I use Seagate? Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

Are you sure you have the pricing correct....maybe they hate Canadians :)

It is very common for people to buy the external cases and remove the drives because they are cheaper than buying just the drive.

When I do a generic search on amazon for 22tb hard drive the wd elements box comes out cheaper than the bare drives. I see 409 for the elements and likely 419 for the "red" drive it likely contains.
