What’s the difference between Microsoft Security (Windows Defender) / Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) and Microsoft Safety Scanner?

I’ve been looking at the Microsoft articles on these tools and some posts I googled. I’m still confused about when I should use these in real case scenarios (for a computer repair technician).

I’d love to hear opinions on when to use these tools. My assumption was that Windows Defender was enough.

Any advice much welcome

Microsoft Security (Windows Defender) - Generalized real-time antivirus protecting your computer against real-time threats and everyday usage.
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) - An on-demand scanner that removes found malicious content when told to scan.
Microsoft Safety Scanner - A deprecated version from the old Windows days that acted as a similar antivirus to the two.

On Windows 10 the new Microsoft Security the all a user needs to have installed on their PC to protect their PC. It's secure, safe, effective, and efficient.
