What 1151 CPU should I get?

Hi! I want to upgrade my CPU because I feel like it's not up to snuff as I do want to begin streaming.

Some of my current build includes:

GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX970
CPU: Intel Core i5 6500 3.2 GHz 6MB
Mobo: Gigabyte Z170 Gaming K3

I don't think any more is needed, if so then I will add it. Thanks in advance!

Either upgrade your BIOS and get a 7700k or sell your mobo/CPU and get an R5 1600 and mobo would be my advice. Also ask yourself if you're actually going to stream a lot, because if you spend $100+ to upgrade and don't stream then it's a bit of a waste of money.

a no-brainer decision given your current mainboard....

(upgrade the BIOS first, *before* removing/selling the old CPU)

Sorry I'm slightly unfamiliar with the subject of BIOS, in what way do you mean upgrading the BIOS? Is there a specific update for that CPU, or something extra having to do with windows 10 or such? I know in the past when I bought the computer I had some RAM issues and I looked up a way with this motherboard I have currently to upgrade the bios back then.

BIOS - that menu accessible by way of DELETE/F2 prompts at the start of turning on your pc.
Updates can be found on your motherboard manufacturer's website. If you intend to get the 7700k, you must update the BIOS while using the old cpu, or the board won't recognize the new cpu. But none of this will matter if you instead decide to sell.
