I spent almost 900 dollars on my pc build and it still isnt great for gaming. i run skyrim at 20 fps in heavily snowy areas and when the weather is clear, it is around 26-40 fps. My specs are: MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte ga-z97-hd3, POWER SUPPLY: EVGA 430 watt 80+ atx, PROCESSOR: i5 4690k 3.5 ghz but overclocked at 4.24 ghz right now (but i could overclock higher but choose not to), HARD DRIVE: Western Digital 2TB 3.5-inch, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM, 64MB Cache WD2003FZEX, RAM: G.Skill 2 x 8(16gb) DDR3-1600 PC3-12800, GRAPHICS CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 1GB, Windows 8.1 and i use an external usb optical drive if that matters, which is: Lite-On IT Corporation Optical Drives EBAU108-01

i got the power supply and my graphics card has two plugin spots on it but I don't have a cord for it. it probably is supposed to connect to psu but I don't have an pci-e cords with the new power supply. I only have these perif ones that look the same so idk if I'm supposed to use those but the installation manual doesn't say to plug anything in there. I also got a vga connector with my power supply that looks the same too.

Look for the PCI-E connectors. Some PSUs have the connectors labeled.

I did look. it don't have pci-e connectors. from what my psu manuel says the pci-e cable is the vga cord for the power supply

That's pretty strange... 🙁

So you have nothing that looks like this, anywhere in that power supply box?

no i dont. i used the two vga power supply cables and it worked, it has been working for a few days. i will post pictures later today or within a few days. gotta get ready for work right now tho.

Man you really messed this build up.

Should've tried something like this instead.

So sayeth the man with 3 total posts ever...

You recommend the Corsair CX power supply... That is a Tier 4 power supply on Toms Power Supply List. That means we say it is not suitable for any gaming system. It is tier 4 out of 5, and what we recommend buying is Tier 1 or Tier 2 power supplies.

Secondly, there is no set perfect system. He chose every item himself. That is what we as people do. We read up on things, and we make decisions. And we live with them. He did that. I am proud of him. He anguished over the last few items for weeks. I told him when things like that Corsair CX power supply were not in his best interests. But all other choices were his. And he made them.

I'll meet you halfway here could've recommended a better power supply, but it doesn't change the fact your a dick. Anyone with a low post count must be stupid right? I swear I don't post anywhere else on the interwebs. Another thing you must follow tom's tier system like a religion, even though the Corsair 600w although cheaper would've held up just fine on a budget build. I'll play your elitist attitude. Bro
Oh and by the way he didn't read shit before building his system, otherwise he wouldn't be on this forum wondering why he's getting such terrible frames from a 900$ system.

I agree on the post count. It shouldn't matter how many posts one has, right?

A GTX 650 Ti or GTX 750 Ti would both be much better cards, and they aren't all that expensive, and should work with your power supply. You could try to resell your GT 730 on eBay or something to recoup some costs.

However, your gaming will only be as good as your video card. You already have a top notch gaming cpu in the i5 4690K.

You can compare the above mentioned video cards against yours at gpuboss.com.
