I've got Windows 98. How do you tell if it is Win 98 SE or regular Win98? This version seems pretty buggy whatever it is. If I have the regular, should I upgrade to the SE? Thanks

Right-click on My Computer, go to Properties. If I remember correctly.

It says Microsoft Windows 98.
4.10.1998

Does the SE version actually say it's the SE version there? Should I get the SE version?

I agree with Bubba; I think you have the "original" Windows 98.

Go to Start click on settings then Control Panel from your Start button. Then go down the list to System. on the General Tab I see.

Microsoft Window 98
Second Edition

If you see that you have the SE version if not it will show you what you have.

You are not a IDIOT. you are just not informed.
