No. As much as you want to believe all the chips are unlockable they are not. The higher end boards help with the overclock. There is no user problem in this case. As you said its very simple. Go into BIOS change the ACC setting and thats it.

The chips simply do not overclock better then 965/955. At best they will be equal but they will not be better.

The 555 is not a better stepping. They are not a separate sku from the x4's. They are disabled x4s as you know. They come with SAME steppings at the x4. The older c2 for the 550 and the newer C3 for the 555. You will get a better stepping only if you get a 555 and compare to it a older 955/965 c2 stepping. They 955/965 will be better period. That is what binning is for.

And as the op clearly stated in his post none of this applies anyways. He has a older board with a nvidia chipset.

And scott yes your board will run a AM3 cpu. But that does not mean it is socket AM3 board as you said. AM3 boards can ONLY run AM3 cpus and ONLY DDR3 ram.

No need to argue Im done! Pebkac has been the issue in many users that have come into my store I ALWAYS GET THEM TO WORK ALWAYS!!!
