(asking for a friend)
Configuration:

Lenovo Ideapad Z500

SR0MZ (Intel Core i5-3210M) SR0MZ (Intel Core i5-3210M)
SR0MZ (Intel Core i5-3210M) 6GB DDR3

HDD: 1 TB

The laptop is quite old and most have been replaced except motherboard which is now dead.
So the idea is to get a budget motherboard until I have enough money to buy a good brand new laptop. I am looking for cheapest motherboard I can use.

If it were a new laptop then the manufacturer would fix it under warranty. If it were slightly older you might find a used motherboard somewhere like E-Bay.

The thing with laptops is that they are built with tight tolerances so deviating from the original specifications, is difficult to not possible.

So what would a person do if motherboard blows up? There are no options? What motherboard can i buy online?

There is no upgrade for you.

Best thing you can do is try to find the same motherboard, or laptop that is for parts.

Solution

Essentially, you either find someone selling your exact model's motherboard on eBay or talk to Lenovo and have them service the laptop. Neither option will be inexpensive. What it comes down to is that unlike desktops, which have standardized parts, laptop motherboards tend to be extremely proprietary.

NO SOUP FOR YOU! NO upgrade for you! ;-)

Yeah, I have the same problem with my Lenovo SL510, which I've upgraded several times.
From what I can see, my best bet is to find a used SL510, or perhaps a newer more powerful "Stripped down" laptop on eBay, and put my 8GB of RAM, my new SSD and my "old" hard disk into it.
