Question what are some upgrades i can do to this hp pavillion 500 series?

picked up this older 500 series pc from a family friend, has an i3 3240, mother board and psu. no ram, no hdd. i want to emulate some older ps titles on it and play cs2, val, fort, rb, etc. what upgrades would you guys recomend i do to this pc?

SATA SSD for the OS at least.

Limiting factor will be the OEM PSU if it is not ATX.

I don't think you will enjoy the dual core experience, thus the i7 suggestion. You may need to find a larger HP cooler, or adapt an aftermarket cooler to fit.

I have had good luck with adapting Deepcool Gammaxx 400 onto proprietary mounts. Just needed some m3 screws, nuts, and washers. (The key is to get several lengths of screws so that you can tighten them without bottoming out on the chassis side panel behind the motherboard tray)

ive got a psu upgrade in it rn, 750w corsair model from 2013

Then you can drop in pretty much whatever GPU you feel like paying for.

I would try to avoid any 4x GPUs just in case that board is stuck at PCIe 2.0. But 8x GPUs won't take too much of a hit.

i was looking at rx 480s and 1650s for the price.
