I am a windows 7 user and I notice that only C:\Users\Username\Documents will be used by software to store it files/data and this seems like the most important folder in C:\Users\Username\ .

It seems like software do not use any other folders like:
C:\Users\Username\Music
C:\Users\Username\Pictures
C:\Users\Username\Videos
C:\Users\Username\Downloads
These folders are usually empty except containing the default sample files created by Windows 7 which are not important.

What other folder in C:\Users\Username\ will be used by software to store files/data or contain important files?

Thanks

I suggest leaving them alone. Apps may nor may not elect to use these folders. They are not talking any room, let the dog lie.

I was going to move the whole shebang to another partition until I read this thing on the Net Windows won't upgrade to 8.1, if it can't find USERS on C:! :ouch: Don't know what W10 wants.

I am not going to delete them. I was doing a backup so I was thinking where are the important files stored.

I have moved my documents folder to another disk that stores data, so I was thinking where else are the important files stored, maybe move them to another partition.

Don't change anything, except what is in Libraries. Documents/Music/Video/Pictures.
Moving AppData or /Users/ will result in tears.

If you want to do a 'backup', use any of the current imaging applications. This will save your entire C partition.

Acronis Trueimage, Easus Todo, Casper, Macrium Reflect.....all will do this easily.

You mean the folders that can be moved those inside the Libraries: Documents/Music/Video/Pictures correct?

For Libraries,
Only Documents C:\Users\Username\Documents is used by software to store files created by the software.
Other folders C:\Users\Username\Music, C:\Users\Username\Pictures, C:\Users\Username\Videos are not used by any software. If I do not store anything there myself, there will not be new files appearing there or created by software correct?

Right. Those are the only ones you should redirect elsewhere.
