I am creating a build on www.pcpartpicker.com and got a notification that states "Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs" my motherboard is a ASRock 970 Performance ATX AM3+ Motherboard(http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-970performance)

I have three questions:

1. what is the issue?

2. what is the likeliness that this will be an issue on my motherboard?

3. In the event it did become an issue what would I need to do to fix it?

If references to other parts are needed here is a link to my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rKt9pg

Solution
Here is the cpu list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_FX_microprocessors
Q: 1. what is the issue?
A: For example, if you use the fx8320e, then some of MB ( old version motherboard) need update the BIOS, like asrock 970 Extreme3, it need the BIOS 1.80 version to support fx8320e.
The best way to find out that, you need go to the manufacturer site to check the cpu support list.
Q: 2. what is the likeliness that this will be an issue on my motherboard?
A: Your MB is fine, it can support all the cpus. http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20970%20Performance/?cat=CPU You don't have any problem.
Q: 3. In the event it did become an issue what would I need to do to fix it?
A: You need other compatible cpu to update the BIOS first.

Solution
My friend used a site like this with and got a 270x and a 6 core vishera and he had crashing and unresponsive problems and did the BIOS update but it did not fully work and he still has a few issues, I would recommend researching into the motherboard and CPU it has said will work as it said the Gigabyte 990 chipset will work because it was a AM3+ and it wasn't fully compatible
