What are "Window.old" files?

I upgraded from Windows XP to 7-32 and noticed that I have a 115 GB folder entitled "Window.old" clogging up my C drive. It appears to contain old program files, etc. from before the upgrade to 7. I'd like to free up at least some of this disk space. Is it safe to delete this file? Is some of what's in there still being used?

It's file from your old Windows XP. Windows does that when you do an upgrade. It's a good ides to keep it around a few months because you may discover there are file you may need.
