What are your thoughts about Valentine's Day ?

Now that Valentine’s Day is coming soon,and it is time for the girls and boys to show their appreciation and love by sharing something special with their lover.

My wife ,she always likes giving gifts like DVD of my favorite sport teams, tickets to a show or an sporting event, accessories for my car or bike. It doesn't have to have a special occasion.

She just read this article :Valentine’s Day Ultimate Gift Guide for Him. Then she asked me :”There are 10 gifts ,show me which one is your favorite ? What a wonderful wife I have ! Actually ,I owe her too much ,it's my turn now .I don’t hesitate to answer : “I’ll give you best gift this time .”I think this sports camera really suitable for her ,because she is an outgoing girl who likes outdoor activities very much .What do you think ?Or others electronics will be better ? BTW,She is my best gift in my mind .

Definitely not the same way to celebrate valentine's day in my country.
If i show an internet article to a girl and tell her "pick your favorite gift", i already know i'll have to dance with myself on the evening.

It's not really a "gift day" for us. Also because many of us criticize the marketing pressure of department stores.
So, mostly, we prefer to spend a special night, but with non special gift. Flowers, good restaurant, movie in theater and what happens next is none of your business.
If i really want to give her something, i'll choose it in luxury store (you know.... french girls...), parfum, jewelry etc...

There are two types of women in this world, Queens of Hearts, or Queens of Diamonds, you best hope you do not end up with a Queen of Diamonds!

True love has nothing to do with material things but everything to do with how much you care for the other, the sooner you learn that in life, the better off you will be!

Edit: For the record my first wife was a Queen of Diamonds, at least from that marriage I learned the hard way, what I did not want in my life, my wife of 25+ years now is a Queen of Hearts and is pure Gold all herself!

Yup,true love can't be instead by gifts.But I actually want to show my love to her.Perfect night with a special gift ,maybe a gift made by myself is better? I can't offer too expensive gift ,such as diamond or jewelry....

I think one way that is cheap but directly form the heart is to write some poetry according to the person, not like a love letter but a wonderful heart-warming poem!
Does any one of you in this discussion is up to writing him- or herself? I do enjoy this hobby for a long time, but maybe it is more than that, actually trying to make al iving out of that.

Well, I've been single for the last few years (by choice), and even though I'm still in my 20s (barely, I'm 29), I have to say I have enjoyed this little relationship break of mine.

Although, something funny is happening now. My best friend, who happens to be a girl whom I've known forever, is starting to fall for me, and I for her. We both entered the whole single life thing together because of bad experiences in past relationships, but it looks like the joke may be on us now.

As for valentines, I'm not sure, I think just going out for a meal or to the movies should suffice. Like one of the people above said, a Queen of Hearts always beats a Queen of Diamonds.
