So I just got a new six 144hz 1440p monitor. It came with dvi dp and hdmi. Not sure which one to use. Obviously not hdmi but I’m not sure what dp is. I’m thinking dvi but I’m using a gtx 1070 and the only output from the graphics card is a display port. My cpu has on board memory so if I use dvi does it use my graphics card? Should I just go buy a display cable?

Solution
If the only output from the graphics card is Display Port, then I'd recommend a getting Display Port cable. DP = Display Port.

If the DVI output is from the motherboard, then that would be the on-board graphics. But since you want to (I assume) use your 1070, go with the dp cable.
You have to plug the graphics card to the monitor. DVI would be a great option. You can use any honestly. If your graphics card only had DP (display port) then connect that to your monitor ---> GPU .

If you want to use the 144hz you need to go with the DP (maybe DVI, not sure if it supports it) to get the 144hz displayed. Either way i recommend DP as it has a nice locking mechanism and is pretty low profile compared to dvi.
