what can cause GPU instability

Alright im having issues with my video card i got a 980ti and it is quite unstable when i stress test everything else with aida64 i have no issues but the instant i stress test my gpu by it self it goes batty and i get stuttering and my mouse and stuff jumps all over the place and i if let it go long enough freezes up my entire computer any idea what could be the issue or if i should RMA it for a new one if can avoid RMA and fix the issue i would like to do that but if i gotta i will RMA it

Could potentially be a PSU issue. What are you using? The rest of your setup would also be useful.
