What can my CPU handle?

i have an AMD a10 7870k CPU and was curious as to what the best GPU i could get that my CPU wouldn't bottleneck, or what would be the best way to determine whether or not my CPU could handle and couldn't.

Not to tell you that you're wrong, but that is an APU, not a CPU... Although there are CPU cores in it.

I wouldn't expect much of it. It runs at 3.6GHz, but when you take the low IPC into consideration, it's about equivalent to a 2.3-2.5GHz quad core Intel CPU.

I wouldn't suggest anything above a 980, in fact, I wouldn't even suggest a 980ti for that APU.

Bottlenecks don't work that way. Your CPU will cause slow framerates in some games, regardless of what video card you use. Others will run great.

I realize it's an APU i just didn't think it would bother anyone, regardless thanks for the help i'll probably go with a gtx 960 for now.

If you want more performance, a 970 would also work for you

The GTX960 has pretty bad performance per dollar. The R9 380 is a much more capable card at the same price.
