I'm getting a custom PC and i'm not sure what video card I should get. On this PC i have a Radeon X800 XT P.E. and works great, so something with that performance or better, but i'm also trying to have the whole rig under the 1400 budget or around that.

Here is the list , just go down to the video card and see what card has the best performance / price ratio.

Welp, I think the lucomputers is a bit expensive as are most computer makers. Plus you don't know what components you are getting. No idea how to build one yourself?

I've never built one before. There are not many places in Canada to get computer parts from. Everyone suggests newegg but they don't ship here.

I was originally going to buy from Tigerdirect but I found LuComputers to be a bit cheaper. I'll check out the links to see if i can buy part-by-part and see if i get below 1400 that way.

Are you a gammer ? I mean looks pretty good but I would say lose the 4600 and get a 4400 then that give you about $155 to play with to add to the video card (which will improve your gamming by much much more than a couple hundred Mhz).

i would shoot for maybe a 1800GTO heard they OC like mad and they support 3.0SM spec. They are also similar in stock form to 850xt PE so if your happy with your x800 TX PE then you should still be happy.

I also need my computer to be as cool and silent as possible. It will most likely be on all day and it's in my room.

As far as RAM goes, I dont care if it's only 1 gig. I can easily just add more whenever I like. Unfortunatley I can't "add on" to a CPU, so it has to be very good.

Get the 3800+ X2 and just get the 1900XT from Powercolor or Saphire. The performance difference would be tremendous compared to the 4600+ and 3800+. Also, if you get decent cooling, the 3800+ can OC pretty well. One of my friends OC'ed his to the 4600+ speed with the Zalman 7700 cooler. It ran Prime95 for a whole day fine. But his computer is also in a room which is pretty cold most of the time, so that might have something to do with it. Anyways, if you get the 1900XT, expect to see a huge performance difference from the 800XT. 1900XT(X)'s currently run Oblivion the best and are currently the best video cards around for most games (some are better with the 7900GTX, but thats more expensive)

Thanks for the advice. I probably won't OC the CPU just because I usually leave it on alot, don't want to risk over-heating. And the problem with getting a more powerful cooling fan is that it will cause noise.

Accutually, most aftermarket coolers are quieter than the stock. I haven't have experience with the stock cooler for AMD but i can tell you the aftermarket cooler on my P4 reduced the noise tremendiously.
