What cards fit?

Hi. I just bought an XFX 9800GT for my Acer Aspire desktop and the darned thing does not fit in the case. It is 1/2 an inch too long because the end of the card is hitting a plug on my motherboard and I cannot get it into the pci slot. Is there a list somewhere of the cards that are compatible with my pc?

what kind of plug is it hitting? Is it something you can do without?

a great many things can be trimmed or modded in a computer to make a card or a fan fit.

it is the sata1 signal plug

I just unplugged it and plugged into the sata3 slot (it is out of the way) and I think that it may work...

Just move the SATA cable in there to another SATA port so it's out of the way. If you really need that SATA port you could just buy a cheap controller card instead to make up for the ones your video card will block. If you are just going to get another card though a 4670 would be a good choice as it isn't much longer than the PCI-E slot. The 9600GT is shorter than the 9800GT, but longer than the 4670 so I don't know if it would block those ports just the same.
