what is the purpose for the virus to rename a system file in the computer and what are the solutions with tools and best practices to take when this problem has occured

renaming system files prevents the system from functioning properly. if you want to damage an OS the system files are the way.
if you have remove all vestiges of the virus, then you should be able to repair the files, but I prefer a drive format and OS re-installation. a clean installation on a freshly formatted drive is the surest way to clean the system.
