There must be some sort of command that changes the windows spotlight every time it is run, considering that I only seek the desktop, and not the lockscreen one.

I simply linked that as a potential method to use the Windows Spotlight as the desktop background.

If that does not meet your needs....then the search continues.

I havn't found any method yet, any clue? Beside leaving it on wait, it's not that I don't like to wait, it's because I need to like this images to leave the setting on spotlight instead of my default setting.

So that we out here do not needlessly replicate your searching...
Where have you looked and not found a solution?

Well the arrow next to personalize desktop background and the arrow next to that, having spotlight selected, suppose there ought to be setting there to change the current image.
And I have searched with google with what seems to be an obvious clue to what results I seek, and have thus far not seen a more insightful result of any search.

I wish you could set a spotlight on one desktop and a picture on another but windows isn't that useful.

its only a new feature, maybe windows 20 it will work properly.

desktop changes are slow, it took an entire version of windows just to let you have more than 1 desktop image on virtual desktops, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Faster using a desktop theme engine or another shell to get changes on windows.

Is it correct to say that you need a command to toggle Spotlight on and off the Lockscreen?

Is it acceptable to have an icon on the desktop or Taskbar to do so?

Spotlight can be disabled via a Registry edit. Registry edits are risky at best under any circumstances and not recommended as SOPs.

And a Powershell script can be used to make registry edits and a simple toogle may (TBD) be viable. Likely there are other coding choices as well.

Logic being:

If Spotlight "on" then turn Spotlight "off" else turn Spotlight "on".

Foregoing all that, then if acceptable, just turn off Spotlight completely.

I stumbled across the following link:

https://www.prajwaldesai.com/disable-windows-spotlight/#Disable-Windows-Spotlight-using-Group-Policy

Group Policy appears to offer the most options regarding Spotlight.

Note "Windows Components" > "Cloud Content".

Sort of hides Spotlight options.....

Before doing anything in any case be sure, as you always should, that all important data is backed up proven to be recoverable and readable.

Just in case.....

All you can do is enable it, he was looking for some way to control the generation of images.
You can't even change how often it shows up on desktop, its Microsoft's way or none.

Screensavers used to have more control. But desktop images don't use the same settings menu... they probably don't even know its there.

Spotlights are essentially screensavers except they run on the surface and not above desktop.

maybe in a future patch they realise that some options would be nice for feature.

So not this? I.e. Personalization?

Windows Spotlight Wallpaper

Not enough settings then.....

Thanks.

Exactly, I wouldn't say that spotlight adjustment ought to be a requirement, but additional control of how it is too be utilized.

My point being is that spotlight images whether it being on the desktop or on the lock screen are outshining everything that has come before with it's quality of images that a windows user could apply for some inspiration whilst using a windows device.

Then again thinking why this is the way Microsoft has it configured, using spotlight. Possibly only one image change per 24H, might be because that twenty-four hours are required time to narrow down out of all available submitted image for utilization on spotlight until one remains that is of high enough standard to be live.

Your opinion, I have used same desktop wallpaper designer for 22 years so perhaps I am biased.

I would leave feedback on the app as if enough people ask for some way to manage it, it might happen.

If you look at it the way I see it, not everybody has access to quality wallpaper images without some degree of compromise, spotlight provides that which was always lacking. Alternate explored wallpaper gathering methods often sees one spending great deal of time finding quality images or not at all, and not to forget that some or most outstanding images are copy protected, or are bound to some subscription to utilize or download them.

Interesting, I have a look at that thank you, this might not be what we were after, but it might give somebody whom doesn't mind having 3rd party apps installed the freedom to change said image.
