I have been out of the PC world for a few years now. Need advice on the best parts for a mid-high to high-end gaming rig in this day and age. All of your recommendations and insight is greatly appreciated. My current rig's specs are at the bottom of the page.

Note:
  • My budget is around $1,600 (Tower Only)
  • I will be using the Fractal Design R6 USB-C Blackout (I want to utilize the USB-C front connector)
  • I do not overclock, please recommend parts based on stock power.
  • I want to take advantage of Freesync or Gsync.
  • Reliability is very important to me.
Questions:
  1. Should I reuse my current power supply? (EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2)
  2. Is it worth buying a closed loop CPU water cooler in this price range if I do not plan to overclock, or is an aftermarket air cooler sufficient?
  3. Is a GTX 2070 Super the sweet spot in this price range?
Current Rig:
  • MSI Z97S Krait Mobo
  • Intel i5-4570 (Not Overclocked)
  • 8GB ADATA DDR3 SDRAM
  • 250GB Samsung 840 Evo
  • 1TB WD Blue
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2
  • Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
  • Windows 10 Home
  • NZXT H440 Case

  1. Sure (maybe you wanna make sure that it has 2 motherboard/cpu power 4-pins, or get a adapter thingy)
  2. Not for performance. Quietness yes.
  3. Depends on what you are gaming. Its a high end card, and you'd have to pair it with a decent processor to avoid bottlenecking. In a mid-high build id go for the rx 5600xt cus its darn cheap and performance will shred anything 1080p. Priced at the 1660 but competing with the 2060 its great value.

Any disadvantage of substituting the Asus board for this Gigabyte one? I'm really looking to have a board that supports front USB-C connectors.
