I am thinking of getting the Ryzen 5 1500X but I do want a 6 core CPU if possible cause games are getting more demanding these days. Will either get 8 or 16gb of ram. My budget is limited to around 300 pounds so I think I can only afford 100-150 pounds on a CPU and the rest for the ram and Motherboard. Also my case can only fit micro atx boards sadly.

Many thanks in advance! :)

Solution
Just watch out that you don't end up with a noisy PC.
Look here for some ideas on noise suppression https://www.quietpc.com/

The reality is that you will need to compromise if you have a strict 300pound budget.

You can pick up a Ryzen 1700 (8Core 16Thread) for 180Pounds
or a Ryzen 2600 (6Core 12 thread) for 156Pounds.

You can pair that with a Gigabyte GA-AX370M for 84Pounds. Just beware that you may need to get a bios update before your CPU will work with the motherboard.

Chicken and egg situation, so if you don't have a spare AM4 cpu lying around, you may be in trouble. To be safe you should either stick with the 1700 or get a newer Mobo

I think I will go with the i5 8400 + B360 mobo combo. That fits in with my budget perfectly and Ryzen don't have many micro atx mobo's from what I hear. I will definitely upgrade the CPU cooler in the future but my Noctua low profile CPU cooler should be compatible with the LGA 1151 platform cause I would have to get an adapter for Ryzen. Hence why I will get the i5 version instead. I can get 8gb of ram to start with and still get 16gb later on when prices drop due to the mobo used. Thanks a ton! :)

Good choice

You will be happy to know that not even a overclocked 2600 is better at gaming
