What CPU should I upgrade to?

Hello, I was thinking of upgrading my build as someone just gave me a GTX 1600 6gb as a birthday gift, but not so sure where should I go from where I am as I'm on budget and still have DDR3 memories, here's my actual builld:

CPU: A8-7600 @3.1GHz
GPU: GTX 1600 6GB
Memory: 2 x HyperX Fury 4GB 1866
Power Supply: EVGA 600W 80+ Bronze
Motherboard: GA-F2A88XM-D3H

So far, I've read that as FM2+ is dead it would be better to upgrade the Motherboard as well, however, if that was the case, I would probably upgrade to this one:

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B350-GAMING-PLUS.html#productFeature-section

But that being the case, I would also need to upgrade the memory

On the other hand, I was recommended by a friend that if I want to keep it Ultra low cost to just upgrade to an Athlon X4 860k

So far that's all I have so I wanted to see other opinions, thanks!

Any upgrade means CPU/MB/and DDR4 RAM (3200 MHz if possible)as well, so, take your wallet...

R5-2600X/B450 combos are popular right now...(B350 will work with Rzen 2x00 sereis CPU *IF* the BIOS is recent, but, problematic , because if you don't have a current BIOS, you can't flash it. (as all X470/B450 boards came at the time of Rzen 2000 series release, they are good for those CPUs...

Go ahead and install that GTX1060 and see how you do.
You may be ok if you favor fast action games.

If you are cpu limited, there is no good upgrade.

$250 buys you a stronger G5600, 8gb of ddr4 ram and a H310 motherboard.
It can go up from there.

Your A8-7600 cpu has a passmark rating of 5093 and a single thread rating of 1544.
The single thread rating is most important for games.
By comparison, the G5600 has a rating of 5720 and a single thread rating of 2279.

And... the X4-860K has a rating of 5437/1600; not worthwhile.
