Is this your current motherboard?

If so, then it appears that it will support it the 3600. However, I would say you should use your current cpu to update the bios to the bios version that says it will support it to be safe.

It appears the minimum bios you need is for that board linked is version F40. But you must install version F32 first. It appears after you update to F40, it may not be a bad idea to update to the later versions.

It also may be worth since your board is an a320 chipset, to consider looking at the Ryzen 5 3600x. It's about 20-30 more, but on the other hand gives a little extra performance stock since you would...
with my motherboard and what not, can i buy this with no problems? and will i be able to see and feel the difference?

Otherwise, I have the regular 3600 and it's fine.

I will also say these cpus run a bit hot in my opinion. I have the Wraith Prism which would have come with a 1700x or 2700x on my 3600 and my 3600 still can run warm. So it may not be a bad idea to look at a better cooler for less noise etc.

Theres not a real point in oc a Ryzen X 3xxx anyways, with goog cooling the chip can deliver the best performance alone. For OC to be worth it you really need to have a lot of luck in the silicon lottery. Just let the Ryzen X 3XXX do its thing and it will deliver the best performance it can.

And yes the chips run hot, so is not a bad idea to look for an aftermarket cooler like, Deep Cool Gammaxx 400/GTE; Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black, or Arctic Freezer 34 esports/DUO, any of those will be way better than stock one.

Answering the OP question, YES, even the old R5 1600 (the one thats not the AF) you shoud be see and feel the diference in performance against your A10 APU. In the Ryzen 5 deparment its like this, from worst to better:

R5: 1600 < 1600X < 1600AF=2600 < 2600X < 3600 < 3600X, been the 1600Af and 2600 almost the same chip with only slightly diference in frecuency.

Remember to check and update your BIOS!!!

Cheers

If you're not confident that you can update the bios see if a local computer shop can do it for you. They can probably do it while you wait and it shouldn't cost much.

I had a computer tech guy do my bios the first time and it failed and he said he has never had one do it before. Is it possible it will do it again? i.e a known fault.

Had a tech guy install the latest bios when i first had the pc a year ago but it killed the board, had to send it back! so worried about updating again.

It's possible. Make sure when installing the update that you're not having rough weather. You do not want the PC to power down during the update. On my b350 board there were multiple bios updates to get to the one I needed. Just be careful and find what bios version you need, then look at instructions as you may need to install 2 or 3 updates before you can get the update that works with the new CPU.
