what do i need for to able to play at 4k ?

Hello everyone ;

My Pc spec is

CPU-Intel Core i7-4790
MB-Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO VII
GPU-MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4GB DDR5
Ram-16GB corsair Dominater 1866Mhz
PSU-650W

This is my current spec , what do i need to change or add to be able to play at 4k resolution ? plus ofc i do need a new monitor ryt ?

3 970s or 2 980s. Im not even joking 4k is very hard to get decent FPS on max settings, especially with one card.

Pick up another 970 to SLI and maybe a stronger PSU. Other than that you should see very playable frame rates.

Yea adding a second GTX 970 and getting a 4k monitor is all you really need to do. What make/model is your PSU? If its a good quality one you won't need to replace it.

4K Monitor and another 970 that's all you need but at a 4K resolution you will likely push the GPU to access that last slow 512 vRam and cause stuttering and FPS drop. The best option is to wait for the new AMD releases I'm talking about the 3xx series or get yourself two 980s only then you will enjoy the full 4K experience!

Actually, although it's advisable to get a new monitor, you can enable Nvidia's new DSR (dynamic super resolution) option in the drivers to do what's called downsampling, running a game at, say, 4k for the graphical benefits and downscaling it to 1080p; it's the best form of anti-aliasing and will let you see if your rig can provide playable framerates at 4k.
